Regulated Waste

Regulated Waste Survey

Many building materials are regulated for disposal. During a renovation or demolition these materials cannot go to a standard construction and demolition (C&D) landfill with the rest of the debris. From radioactive smoke detectors and lead-acid batteries in exit signs to electronics and even polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) in caulking and paint, the list of regulated materials is truly extensive. Not to mention more obvious wastes often left behind on properties such as petroleum products, herbicides, pesticides, water treatment chemicals, and fire extinguishers.

Hiring contractors without the proper training and knowledge of state and federal regulations can expose landowners to unnecessary risk, or unexpected change orders.

Regulated waste surveys is one key component of Envise’s full suite of building renovation and demolition services. Our team can locate regulated materials and quantify them ensuring that proper disposal costs are included in contractor’s bids. Our reports also include a description of the regulations and recommendations for proper disposal of different materials.
